A Visit From St.Nicholas Indeed!

I was browsing through the papers yesterday morning when I came across an editorial in The Economic Times about how Santa Claus as we know him now is a marketing creation of Coca Cola. All of us the world over enjoy seeing Santa in his red and white outfit, handing over gifts to the kids and the needy.

The origin of Santa Claus however is based on St. Nicholas of Myra, who lived between the years 270 AD and 343 AD. He had a legendary habit of secret gift-giving and is also known to have performed miracles. This was news to me and the author of the article had also mentioned about a poem, "A Visit from St.Nicholas" written by Clement Clark Moore. I immediately read the poem and liked it so much that I thought of sharing it here. Such simple sentences, beautifully rhymed left me with a nice, warm, fuzzy feeling on Christmas morning.

A link to the poem is given below:

As I read the poem, I felt so much joy and realized that getting to know this trivia about Santa Claus & the poem had turned out to be my Christmas gift ! :)
