Happy Go Lucky Forever

There is a young kid in the building I stay in who loves playing. I have seen her play all possible sports - Badminton, Cycling, Football, Gymnastics, Running. And when she plays, she is so engrossed that the world around her just doesn't matter. She is blissfully happy and I just love watching her run around as a little girl-on-a-mission.

Very often I find her playing alone too. She once was happily skipping in the rain when I told her not to do that as she'd fall ill. She just wasn't happy when I said that and she defiantly told me that she was allowed to get wet in the rain. I couldn't help but smile at her for saying that.

Later one day she was happily swimming in the pool and when she saw me come towards the pool, she greeted me with a big hi. After a while when she saw me just standing in the pool, she came and asked me why am I not swimming, to which I said I don't know how to swim. The way she asked me the question and her reaction thereafter left me feeling happy, as she didn't make me feel bad for not knowing swimming.

In her, I see a little bit of me as a kid, when playing outdoor sports and running around everywhere delighted me. Very often we look around for role models and my young building friend here is my role model for showing me how one could enjoy playing sports and not worry one bit of what the world thinks. Wish we could carry that happy go lucky phase forever in life.
