My Pregnancy Journey

I should have started writing earlier about my pregnancy journey, but my first trimester didn't really leave me with high energy levels, so could not think of much other than lie down & rest in between! I did have nausea issues as well, and have requested my husband several glasses of lime juice during the period which he duly obliged. I craved for Amma's food during the period and switched over to cooking on my own instead of what the maid would make. My mother-in-law has been helping me by learning Palakkad recipes & sending them over. I used to visit my sister almost every week prior to being pregnant, which I cannot do any longer, so my sister takes the trouble of coming over every week to meet me these days.

I have completed 18 weeks of pregnancy & 4 weeks into my 2nd trimester now. The journey so far has been good overall. It has been a step-by-step progress really. Due to my age, there have been additional genetic tests & scans I had to undergo. Things seem on track till now. This week, I notice my tummy get bigger & more noticeable, sleep has got affected as I get up to use the washroom & somehow am unable to sleep for 2 hrs after that! I am no longer the early morning person I'd like to be, as a result.

After I announced my pregnancy to my friends, I have been receiving so much help & guidance. There are so many things one learns from others. One of my friends has gifted me a pregnancy learning module package, which I am looking forward to completing. Can't thank her enough for that. Two of my other friends visited me too and just meeting, talking to them made me feel good, as I am not going out much these days.

We have started a new routine this week of reading out poems to the little one. The baby can start hearing outside sounds (albeit muffled) at around 28 weeks. We have started the routine slightly early, but the process of reading out to the child, is a thrill in itself.

I plan to have a weekly post on my journey going ahead just so that I remember some tiny details of the journey which one would otherwise forget with the passage of time.
